Helping Mum and Baby be their best

Mind Body Connection related to Pregnancy & Birth

So once you are pregnant, you may feel it’s plain sailing, but some parents may find this change overwhelming and really scary and amusingly in many pre-natal classes when you ask mum’s about how they are going to cope when they bring their baby home, they look around confused and say “I’ve not thought that far, I’ve just focused on getting & being pregnant and only thought a bit about the mechanisms of the baby coming out, but not at all about the practicalities of when we get the baby home and how our lives will change!”

I can relate to this to a certain extent, as remember getting home with our little bundle of joy, looking at each other and saying “Blimey, this is it, what do we do next?”

It is therefore really important for parents to think this through to try and reduce the shock of the change and deal with any negative emotions of limiting decisions that ideally should be addressed before the child is born, particularly differences in parenting values and any fears.

Furthermore if there are any real, overly exaggerated negative emotions like fear and limiting beliefs about the birth itself, it is vital these are also addressed to give you the most relaxed and best birthing experience possible for you all.

One client also had a baby who was breech until the last few weeks but with hypnotherapy and visualisations that I gave her to do, the baby managed to turn and get into the right position, much to the relief of the mum. The power of the mind body interaction.

Nutrition related help during pregnancy

There are many well documented foods of what you are allowed to eat and also what you must avoid to keep your baby safe, however there is a wealth of other information and research showing other nutrients that play a big role in the health of mum and the baby that are sadly, rarely shared and worryingly often unknown.

For example Vitamin D should be taken before and during pregnancy to replete stores:- for safe implantation of the embryo; so that the baby gains this benefit and aids in their development and immune system; as well as the well known link to bone health.

Another vitamin is Iodine which is advised to be taken at higher levels, by the main health organisations around the world and developed countries apart from the UK (for some unknown reason only known to the government), during pregnancy and lactation to aid in the health and mental development of the baby.

So if you want me to help you get up-to-date with research and evidence that could have long term health implications on your child and their mental development then please get in contact, as I am frustrated by this evidence being kept secret.

I am based in Elstead which is within a 15 minute drive from Farnham, Godalming and Guildford in Surrey but I help clients from all over the world virtually.
