While most people understand the impact of obesity on their health, the opposite could be said of someone who does not exercise. They may not look overweight but they are at risk of 20 preventable health issues including diabetes and heart disease so is it time to take control of your health and take responsibility? You may not see someone with a large waist but the reality is that your heart is at great risk.

The thing is that it could be a range of reasons related to motivation (I can’t exercise as it’s raining or cold, I’ll start tomorrow or I don’t like gyms’). However when you look at it these are just excuses, as if it’s raining outside you could do a class inside or at home, or find an activity that doesn’t involve a gym. There is nearly always a solution to the problem and if you really want to succeed in something you will find a way… it’s up to you!

Most of us don’t realise that it is our values that could be holding us back. Values that you think you have are actually often very different to what you do have and they could be holding you back, so unconsciously exercise may not be important to you so you’re not driven to do it yet. This in turn is stopping you from realising the enjoyment and motivation you get from exercising. What I do is help individuals get their mindset right again by realigning their values and help them overcome whatever it is that is holding them back and stopping them from being the person they want to be, with the values and motivation to achieve their goals.
So maybe currently your values and beliefs are making exercise feel more effort and a huge task to undertake than it should. Is it time to make that change for you?
