A study of 3,961 people was done to look at the link to more serious illnesses in more detail and found that there is a link between depression and oxidative stress in the body. Oxidative stress refers to an imbalance in the body, which hurts its ability to get rid of toxic substances and free radicals that can attack our bodies (1)
Research has shown that talking therapies and/ or medication are the most effective way at dealing with depression and the good news is, that with successful treatment the body heals itself quite quickly and the levels of oxidative stress were virtually no different from those in healthy people with regards to oxidative stress.(1)

Talking- Face to face with a professional.
Exercise- Releases powerful endorphins chemicals in the brain that make you feel good and uses up that excess adrenaline and stress hormones that can cause the free radicals that cause oxidative stress.
Diet- Eating a mood enhancing diet such as leafy greens, fish, beans, chicken and eggs, plenty of fluids (not alcohol!) omega 3 and Vitamin’s D and B.
Mindfulness – Being aware of the present moment by using techniques such as concentrating on your breathing, and using yoga and meditation. This is being used more and more in dealing successfully with stress/anxiety, but it is something you need to do regularly to see best results. Note short term stress can be ok for our bodies but long term is detrimental. Mindfulness breaks up the long term stress, with breaks away from the stress making it safer and healthier for us.
Sleep – Important for your body and brain to recover and flush out toxins while you sleep and give you energy to deal with your busy day.
Hypnotherapy – Hypnotherapy helps fine tune your thought processes and taps into the latent power of the mind, to de-stress you and promote relaxation and healing throughout your mind and body. Highly successful tool that is now being used more and more.
Depression affects people differently so the important thing for me to do is to find out how it affects you and how you are feeling, in order to find out the root cause of the problem and get to work to release those negative emotions and limiting beliefs hidden deep in your unconscious mind that have been sabotaging your happiness and health and install new, positive beliefs that allow you to be healthy and see yourself and the world in a much more positive and stress-free way.
You only get one body to live in… look after it!
Note that just because you feel this depressed way, never means you have to remain that way. You may feel like everything is hopeless and only see problems ahead but you can feel good again, if not better than ever, as in most other cases. I just need to help you change the way your mind works.
